During the times of high fuel prices and diminishing nonrenewable resources, the inevitability for a clean fuel is the need of the hour to drive the economy. Conventional fuel has been generally criticized for its greenhouse gas emissions. What we need today is a green fuel that would help reduce the pressure on the environment but also provide an alternative to conventional fuel. We at PCI would look to make the situation better by finding alternatives to the problems that will impact the policy outcome. The encouragement for the idea of biofuels and electric vehicles would be the much-needed outcome for a policy that is not only cost-effective but also environment-friendly.

In India, the public sector has the majority of the investments in R&D which is considered as a righteous act for a developing economy. But the percentage of gross expenditure in 2017-18 is only about 0.6% of GDP. This amount is well below the mark of other analogous nations like China, Israel, South Korea, etc. Being the third largest economy regarding PPP, India cannot be a slouch in its R&D. We at PCI would work out to give better solutions by defining the problems of the policies and empirically analyzing the need to invest in R&D, be it public or private. With a policy with proper incentive, the private R&D would also flourish.
