Saarthak Sharma is a student of Masters in Economics(Specialization in Trade and Finance) at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Kolkata. Prior to pursuing his masters, he completed his Bachelors in Economics from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi.
He carries an avid interest in policy research and is always looking for scenarios where the on ground impact of the policies can be seen. He wishes to make a career in a similar field where policy making impacts the lives of citizens of the country.
Apart from the interest in policy research, he has written a few term papers on diverse topics like Brexit, NPA’s in India and has also constructed a theoretical model using game theory on how college admissions happen in India and explained how India’s college market is a divergence from the ideal situation.
He has also written articles for the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade’s economics magazine, the articles titled ‘US protectionism policies’ and ‘The Economic slowdown and its impact on India’s industrial Sector’.
He also carries interest in Data Analysis and constructed a Stata project on How countries GDP has been impacted by trade, education revolutionary coups and Assasinations. He has participated in training programs on stock market portfolio management and derivatives training to integrate data analysis learnings to generate some patterns regarding the volatility of stock markets.
Saarthak wishes to do something for the welfare of the nation and firmly beliefs that choosing a career in policy making is the best way to do so. For policy is what drives how a nation functions in the long term.
